Today is the FIRST day of Autumn. For all those twitter crazed Autumn loving people, it wasn’t yesterday… it wasn’t last week and it definitely wasn’t last month. I’ve seen an influx of people all over Twitter getting very excited by Autumn which is great but it made me wonder why?
I’m very new to twitter and the blogging community. Is this something that happens on twitter every time a new season is on it’s way or is Autumn particularly special? I might be being a Grinch here but I must have read the same ‘ooooh it’s Autumn’, ‘I love Autumn’, ‘time to get your Autumn clothes and makeup out’ tweets a thousand times! Does this mean I’m not allowed to wear my favourite lipstick because it’s ‘not an Autumnal colour’. Since when did Twitter become the Autumn fashion police. If someone could educate me on seasonal fashion rules and laws that would be great? As you can see, I don’t know what the hell is going on or what I’m suppose to be doing/wearing.
I feel like I stand alone when I say ‘am I the only one that doesn’t particularly like Autumn?’. I find it a very mediocre season. As much as I’ve tried I can’t find one person on social media that has this same view. Are they scared of the backlash of all these Autumn loving groupies?
A note to you: If you are out there, please say hi!
Now I know I’ve just rambled on and probably offended most of you and I’m sorry if I have but I’m not sorry that I’m not a fan of Autumn. But hey, we’re all entitled to our opinions and I can say that there are parts of the season that I do like. Shock!
So, here are my reasons why I don’t like Autumn and the parts that are actually quite okay.
The colder weather can be a saviour from those warm sleepless nights.
There’s just something about being indoors when it’s raining and you’re cosy and warm inside.
I don’t know about you but That same feeling also brings me the first tingling of a Christmassy feel as the cold weather approaches.
Blankets, warm pyjamas and fluffy socks.
I have a higher tolerance for warm hearty meals.
Warm drinks doing their job.
Autumn holds some pretty awesome events – Halloween, Bonfire night.
I prefer to exercise in cooler weather than overheat in the summer sun.
Candles and wax melts look better in the dark.
It’s getting cold and I hate being cold. I would much rather be too hot than too cold.
The darkness. It’s starting to get dark and working 15 hour shifts means I go to work in the dark and I come home in the dark.
The darkness alongside the cold makes it harder for me to get out of bed in the morning.
People talk so much about Christmas in this season that by the time it actually gets to winter and Christmas I feel like I’ve already witnessed it. By the 20th of December (the first day of Winter), I’m over it already.
The trees start to look unhappy and everything changes colour and eventually dies. The start of the dullness and greyness you witness in winter.
Colder, darker, wetter and hungry. All of these kinds of things don’t help my mood and I’d much rather have a better state of mind than any of the above things that I like about Autumn. Don’t you agree?
Leave a comment and tell me some more lovely things about Autumn in the hope that one day, I’ll look forward to Autumn arriving.
